Although a large part of our labor and employment practice involves litigation and dispute resolution, we proactively shape human resource policies and procedures in union and non-union settings at the start of a client engagement.  Our fundamental goal is to avoid problems before they start, preventing small issues from becoming major disputes.  When disputes do arise, we vigorously advocate on behalf of our clients before courts and administrative agencies to achieve the most advantageous resolution attainable in trial or settlement. 

Our overall practice encompasses over twenty separate areas of counseling and dispute resolution.  The legal services we provide include:

  • Defense of discrimination, harassment, civil rights, promotion, pay/wage, discipline, discharge, and other workplace claims against employers;
  • Human resource policies and procedures, including the development of handbooks and communication programs, wage and hour compliance standards, management training programs, and audits of program and policy effectiveness;
  • Compliance with and related investigations involving OFCCP, EEOC, DOL, OSHA, DHS, IRS, and other federal and state regulators;
  • Labor-management relations, including collective bargaining, NLRB and wage and hour compliance, plant closing, and layoff and labor antitrust issues;
  • Litigation and tactical advice on executive contracts, severance agreements, non-competition agreements, and trade secret protection;
  • Procurement of temporary and permanent visas for skilled, professional and managerial foreign national employees; and
  • Design, drafting, and administration of tax-qualified and nonqualified pension plans, executive compensation programs, health and welfare plans, fringe benefit plans, and cafeteria plans.
