In The National Law Journal’s special publication, Vice President and Group Publisher Kenneth Gary describes the honorees in the following way, “While many of those recognized come at the litigation process from different angles, a common thread ties them together: each has shown a deep passion and perseverance in pursuit of their mission, having achieved remarkable successes along the way.”

Martin is one of the country’s top “go to” lawyers for entities and individuals facing complex and high-stakes legal challenges. He has substantial experience with external and internal investigations and works in the firm’s growing government contracts, compliance and white collar practices. His representations have included, for example:

  • Large corporations in complex civil and criminal matters before state and federal courts, in administrative hearings, and in arbitrations;

  • High-profile clients, which have included NFL, NBA and NHL athletes and political figures; and

  • The United States House of Representatives Committee on Ethics in connection with its investigation of a member of Congress.

Before entering private practice, Martin served as the Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney for D.C. and was the Attorney in charge of the United States Attorney’s Office in Dayton, Ohio. He also served as Senior Trial Attorney with the Justice Department’s Organized Crime Strike Force in San Francisco. Before starting his own firm, Martin & Gitner, in 2012, Martin was a well-respected senior partner in the Washington legal community.

He has been recognized by the D.C. Bar Association as a “Legend of the Bar” and among his many honors, was named one of the nation’s “50 Most Influential Minority Attorneys” by The National Law Journal.
