Miles & Stockbridge won a case of first impression today before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago. Dana Gloor, a principal in the firm’s Commercial & Business Litigation Practice Group, briefed and successfully argued the securities class action case on behalf of a national broker-dealer and all defendants/appellees.

Gloor obtained the trial court’s dismissal of a class action complaint as barred by the Securities Litigation Uniform Standards Act of 1998 (“SLUSA”), and successfully argued that the Seventh Circuit should affirm the trial court’s decision. The Seventh Circuit issued a 19-page opinion today and affirmed in all respects.
