Sixth Lateral Hire in D.C. in Past 18 Months for Law Firm

WASHINGTON, September 2, 2014 – Miles & Stockbridge P.C. continues the strategic expansion of its Washington office and government contracts practice with the addition of well-known government contracts lawyer Linda S. Bruggeman as counsel.

Bruggeman’s practice involves both litigation and counseling, with a particular focus on cost allowability, the Cost Accounting Standards, the Truth in Negotiations Act, and the False Claims Act. Bruggeman serves as counsel to clients in matters involving the Department of Defense, NASA and civilian agencies. “Linda is a welcome addition to our firm,” said John A. Stalfort, Miles & Stockbridge’s managing principal in D.C. “Her years of experience will be a significant asset as we strategically grow our already robust government contracts practice and work with public-private partnerships.”

Bruggeman is the sixth lateral to join Miles & Stockbridge’s D.C. office in the past year, following Raymond F. Monroe, Rebecca E. McDougall, Thomas R. Petty, David L. Vanik, and Marshall E. Yaap. The firm now has 11 lawyers resident full-time in that location, and many from the firm’s other offices working there part-time. Prior to joining Miles & Stockbridge, Bruggeman served as senior counsel in Crowell & Moring LLP’s government contracts group. Earlier in her 30-year career, she held positions with the General Services Administration and the Department of Justice. Bruggeman lectures regularly on a variety of cost allowability and allocability issues for the Educational Services Institute in association with George Washington University. She earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law School and a B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, from Miami University.
