About Kelly Powers

In her family law practice, Powers has spearheaded the return of dozens of missing children while representing families, both domestically and overseas, in numerous cases involving international parental abductions of children. With her colleague and mentor Stephen Cullen, she has handled more of these types of cases under the 1980 Hague Convention treaty than any other practice in the world.

The co-director of the Pro Bono Advocacy Program at Miles & Stockbridge, Powers represents pro bono clients in high-conflict custody and protective order cases.  She has worked extensively with The Women’s Law Center of Maryland (WLC), which provides free legal representation to protect and empower individual women and advocates on issues related to family law, domestic violence, employment law and human trafficking. Powers is a past president of WLC’s board of directors.

In 2017, the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section presented Powers with its Jean Crowe Pro Bono Award, given to an attorney who goes “above and beyond” in offering services on a pro bono basis.
