IP Lawyer Michael Doane Joins Miles & Stockbridge
Miles & Stockbridge, a leading business law firm in the mid-Atlantic region, announced today that Michael L. Doane has joined its Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group as a principal in Tysons Corner, Virginia.
Doane brings to the firm a breadth of experience in intellectual property and international trade, with a particular focus on litigating unfair trade cases before the U.S. International Trade Commission under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930. He has represented parties in more than sixty Section 337 investigations addressing patent, trademark, copyright and trade dress infringement matters.
“Mike is a fantastic addition for our clients,” said Nancy Greene, chairman of Miles & Stockbridge. “Like the majority of our lawyers in Tysons Corner, he represents clients in the full spectrum of IP matters while offering deep, niche experience in unfair trade cases.”
Doane is a contributing author to all three editions of the American Bar Association’s "A Lawyer’s Guide to Section 337 Investigations Before the U.S. International Trade Commission." He also is a past president and executive committee member of the ITC Trial Lawyers Association and the chair of the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s ITC Committee.
Most recently, he was a partner at Adduci Mastriani & Schaumberg in Washington, D.C. He is an honors graduate of the University of Washington School of Law. He also earned a master of laws, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center, a master’s degree from University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree cum laude from Kent State University.
