Retired Maryland Court of Appeals Chief Judge Robert M. Bell spoke at Miles & Stockbridge in honor of Black History Month. He offered thoughts on the commitments and contributions of lawyers in society and the civil rights case Murray v. Pearson, which desegregated the University of Maryland School of Law. Miles & Stockbridge principal Alicia Ritchie, a former law clerk to Judge Bell, introduced her mentor. Kraig Long, a principal and co-leader of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, is quoted in the story too.

Law firms often tout their commitment to diversity, pointing to specific affinity groups, a dedicated diversity committee, targeted recruitment efforts and mentoring programs for women and people of color.
