Alicia Ritchie Selected for Top 100 Women Award
Miles & Stockbridge is pleased to announce that Alicia N. Ritchie, a principal and litigator in the law firm’s Baltimore office, has been named among Maryland’s 2019 Top 100 Women by The Daily Record.
Top 100 Women recognizes high-achieving Maryland women who are making an impact through their leadership, community service, and mentoring. Honorees are chosen by an outside panel of business leaders. This year, more than 500 nominations were received by the panel.
“Alicia is not only a highly regarded trial, appellate and regulatory lawyer for clients on a national scale, she is also a mentor and role model to a generation of young lawyers coming up,” said Nancy W. Greene, chairman of Miles & Stockbridge. “She is an outstanding law firm and community leader.”
Ritchie is the co-leader of the firm’s Products Liability, Mass Torts, and Environmental Energy Practice Group. She has several years of successful experience representing a wide range of clients in a variety of complex litigation matters, including catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims, products liability and insurance defense, mass torts, premises liability, commercial disputes, and multi-district litigation. Ritchie routinely manages substantial caseloads involving all aspects of litigation with a discipline and skill that contributes to her effectiveness as an advocate.
Promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and expanding educational and career opportunities for young people are two areas of focus for Ritchie’s many community activities. She chairs the Coppin State University Development Foundation and is a leader of the CollegeBound Foundation’s annual Lawyers’ Campaign, which helps Baltimore City public school students connect with resources that allow them to attend college.
Ritchie also serves as the Baltimore City Lead for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s Law School Mentoring Program, a one-on-one comprehensive mentoring program for first-year diverse law students. She is a member of the advisory board of the Fannie Angelos Program for Academic Excellence, a diversity pipeline program at the University of Baltimore School of Law, and she serves as a mentor to first-year law students through the school’s mentoring program.
At Miles & Stockbridge, Ritchie has served on the diversity committee and co-chairs the Miles Minority Network, which creates opportunities to build a vibrant minority professional community and serves as a resource for professionals of all backgrounds in the Baltimore-Washington region.
Ritchie was recognized with the 2018 Distinguished Women’s Award by the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland as one of five local businesswomen who reflect the attributes that Girl Scouting aspires to instill in every girl. She received The Daily Record’s Leading Women Award in 2016 and was named in 2018 to Coppin State University’s Distinguished Alumni.
The Top 100 Women winners were recognized at an awards ceremony at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore on April 15. Profiles of Ritchie and other Top 100 Women honorees were published in a special magazine supplement to The Daily Record on April 16.
