Thomas R. Petty

Thomas R. Petty, a LEED® Accredited Professional, is a commercial real estate lawyer with an emphasis on finance, leasing, and sustainable development.  Tom represents clients in more than thirty states, including the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. His experience includes all aspects of commercial real estate development, including debt and equity financing, office and retail leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, easements, covenants and other encumbrances, and design, construction and sustainability law.

Tom’s clients include owners, developers, asset managers, commercial lenders, pension funds, foreign and domestic investors, landlords, tenants and non-profit corporations involved in all types of commercial real estate assets, including office buildings, retail centers, multi-family residential developments, light industrial and flex centers, hotels, retirement communities, and performing arts centers. As a LEED® Accredited Professional, Tom is familiar with the LEED® certification process, the impact and use of such standards, and “environmental-friendly” issues, generally.  Before joining Miles & Stockbridge, Tom was a Partner with the Washington, D.C. office of Anderson Kill LLP.
