Laura A. Cellucci

Laura A. Cellucci

Laura Cellucci has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in various state and federal courts as a trial and appellate advocate. Her practice encompasses mass and toxic tort matters, class actions, products liability, and insurance coverage disputes. She is a co-leader of the firm’s Products Liability and Mass Torts Practice.

Both regionally and nationally, Laura routinely handles complex litigation that poses substantial financial and reputational risk to her clients. Her disciplined approach and skill at managing multiple parties contribute to her effectiveness as an advocate. She has acted as defense liaison counsel in numerous asbestos litigation matters.

Drawing on her facility with trial court rules and extensive experience with the appellate process, Laura has served as monitoring counsel in high-stakes matters to preserve the record for appeal, write motions and trial reports, and identify trial court errors.

Laura regularly represents clients in appellate matters, resulting in several significant and favorable reported opinions. Her reported cases include CSR, Ltd v. Taylor, 411 Md. 457, 983 A.2d 492, 2009, (defeated a jurisdictional claim against the client by establishing a lack of sufficient minimum contacts necessary to establish personal jurisdiction in Maryland over a foreign entity in violation of due process); Georgia-Pacific Corp. v. Benjamin, 394 Md. 59, 904 A.2d 511, 2006, (obtained important ruling on the "discovery rule" relating to statute of limitations); and Creveling v. Government Employees Ins. Co., 376 Md. 72, 828 A.2d 229, 2003, (defeated the Appellant’s claim that the lower court erred in denying class certification).

A significant part of Laura’s practice involves class action defense, with a focus on products liability claims involving personal injury. She has been successful in winning denials of class certifications and in preserving those defense judgments on appeal. See Johnson v. GEICO Cas. Co., 672 Fed. Appx.150 (3d Cir. 2016).

Laura has received an AV-Preeminent peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer review rating that a lawyer can obtain.
