Kraig B. Long

Kraig B. Long is an experienced litigator who focuses his practice on defending employers against claims on diverse employment matters, including discrimination, wrongful discharge, disability, family leave, wage-and-hour claims, non-competition agreements and harassment.

Kraig also proactively counsels and trains clients regarding employment policies and procedures, as well as methods designed to minimize litigation risk, including accommodating employees with disabilities, managing family and medical leaves, handling harassment complaints, administering discipline and preventing discrimination.

A former officer of the Small Business Law Section of the National Bar Association and an active member of the American, National, Maryland and District of Columbia Bar Associations, Kraig is a frequent speaker and experienced trainer on employment and labor law issues. He has also co-authored several articles for Matthew Bender & Company’s monthly Labor and Employment Bulletin and the Society for Human Resource Management’s Court Report, and he was a contributing editor to The Employment Law Deskbook and the Maryland and Federal Employment Law Manual.

Since 2015, Kraig has been recognized by Maryland Super Lawyers for his work in employment litigation defense and employment and labor law. Prior to joining Miles & Stockbridge, he was the co-chair of the employment and labor law group of a full-service Maryland firm. He has also served as senior counsel with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Enforcement Division, where he investigated and litigated civil and administrative actions involving violations of federal securities laws.  

Kraig earned his J.D. with honors from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and his bachelor of arts degree cum laude from Temple University.
