Dawna Steelman structures and closes real estate transactions financed through federal and state tax credits, with a focus on low-income housing, historic preservation and solar tax credits.
As counsel to investors, syndicators and developers, she has closed deals around the country, working to augment tax benefits and investment returns. Along with structuring transactions, she negotiates the construction and permanent financing (including tax-exempt bonds and public and private grants and loans) and equity syndication.
Dawna specializes in transactions financed with low-income housing tax credits and tax-exempt bond proceeds in New York state, where she has represented syndicators in more than 150 deals.
She served as a judicial intern to the Honorable James F. Schneider of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland.
