Miles & Stockbridge P.C. Elects Six New Principals
BALTIMORE, MD, January 4, 2013 -- Miles & Stockbridge P.C. is pleased to announce that
Nathanael D. Hartland, Michael L. Haslup, Patricia B. Jefferson, Amanda Neidert Kesler, Derek P. Roussillon and Deborah K. St. Lawrence Thompson have been elected principals of the law firm.
Nathanael (“Nathan”) D. Hartland counsels public and private entities on matters involving government contracts, export control laws, U.S. trade sanctions, regulatory compliance, importing, and other matters relating to domestic and international commerce. Hartland is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was an associate and senior editor of the Journal of International Economic Law. He also is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Johns Hopkins University.
Michael (“Mike”) L. Haslup counsels manufacturers, financial institutions, and other businesses in a variety of mass tort, product liability, and other civil litigation matters. He is admitted to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Haslup graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2004 with honors and Order of the Coif. He graduated summa cum laude from Salisbury University in 2001.
Patricia (“Patti”) B. Jefferson is a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy practice group. Jefferson represents diverse clients (lenders, commercial lessors, committees, trustees and other creditors) in all aspects of bankruptcy cases, including cash collateral use, debtor-in-possession financing, dischargeability litigation, claims objections, executory contract and lease disputes, asset sales, automatic stay litigation and avoidance actions. She is an honors graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of Barristers and served as an associate editor of The Business Lawyer and vice-president of the Moot Court Board.
Amanda Neidert Kesler concentrates her practice on environmental matters, including regulatory compliance counseling, environmental and toxic tort litigation, and the environmental aspects of real estate/corporate acquisitions and divestitures. Neidert Kesler has assisted clients with a variety of compliance, permitting, and enforcement issues, such as industrial wastewater and stormwater discharges, solid and hazardous waste management, lead-based paint compliance, spill and release reporting, and green marketing claims, and has defended clients in toxic tort litigation arising from groundwater contamination, asbestos, perchlorate and lead paint. She is an honors graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, where she served as “Notes and Comments” editor of the Journal of Health Care Law and Policy and a member of the Moot Court Board.
Derek P. Roussillon maintains a general litigation practice primarily in the areas of commercial and business litigation. Roussillon provides litigation services in a wide variety of matters for clients ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. Roussillon is a cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he was the managing editor of the University of Baltimore Law Review. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Loyola University Maryland.
Deborah K. St. Lawrence Thompson is an experienced trial attorney who represents a broad array of clients in a variety of commercial litigation, employment law, and products liability matters. St. Lawrence Thompson also assists major corporations, educational institutions, businesses and city and state municipal organizations in the development and establishment of employment policies and procedures, and she has extensive experience training managers, supervisors, EEO investigators and staff on EEO and supervisory and disciplinary matters. She has tried several cases to verdict in California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. She is a 1997 honors graduate of University of Maryland School of Law and a 1990 honors graduate of the University of the West Indies.
