Miles & Stockbridge Lawyers Speaking at International Bar Association Annual Conference
Miles & Stockbridge is pleased to participate in the International Bar Association’s (IBA) Annual Conference, which is being hosted in Washington, D.C. from September 18-23, 2016.
Rachel McGuckian, a seasoned trial and appellate litigator in Miles & Stockbridge’s Rockville office, board member of the firm, and co-vice chair of the IBA’s Professional Ethics Committee, will serve as a panelist at the conference for two different sessions. McGuckian’s session, “Departures from and Lateral Hires into Law Firms,” will be held on Tuesday, September 20 from 10:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and addresses critical issues with the movement of lawyers or groups of lawyers between firms. Her session, “Over The Counter or Underground: Emerging and New Models for Legal Services,” will be held on Thursday, September 22 from 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. and explores new and sometimes questionable ways legal services are being handled across jurisdictions.
Rebecca E. McDougall, an internationally recognized trademark lawyer in Miles & Stockbridge’s Washington, D.C. office, will moderate one of the conference’s well-attended “Around the Table” sessions, presented by the Intellectual Property, Communications and Technology Section of the IBA. McDougall’s session, “Free Trade or a Free Ride,” will be held on Monday, September 19 from 10:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and addresses whether limitations on gray market goods are legitimate.
Stephen Cullen and Kelly Powers, lawyers in Miles & Stockbridge’s Family Law & Private Clients Practice Group, are also participating in the conference. Cullen and Powers have established one of the leading international family law practices with a focus on international and domestic family law, trusts, immigration and other unique private client needs.
