Deborah K. St. Lawrence Thompson represents a broad array of clients in the areas of commercial litigation, employment law, products liability and toxic torts. 

Deborah represents public and private sector employees with regard to all aspects of labor relations and employment law. An experienced legal counselor, Deborah provides effective, practical counseling to employers on implementing strategies and compliance with the multitude of labor and employment laws applicable to their operations, including assisting in the development and establishment of employment policies and procedures, training managers, supervisors, EEO investigators and staff on EEO and supervisory and disciplinary matters, as well as serving as lead counsel in employment discrimination litigation in state and federal courts throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia. 

Deborah defends manufacturers and distributors involved in industry-wide toxic tort litigation on local, regional and national levels. An experienced trial lawyer, Deborah has first and second chair trial experience in state courts throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia in cases involving claims of occupational and para-occupational cancer, lung disease and death. These cases routinely involve complex medical and scientific issues relating to causation. To this end, Deborah develops, defends and examines expert witnesses from a wide variety of medical and scientific disciplines. 

Deborah’s tenacity and analytical approach to litigation enables her to guide clients to positive resolution of complex matters by assessing liability, developing effective trial themes and developing risk management strategies. 

Before joining Miles & Stockbridge, Deborah was a partner at Brown & Sheehan, LLP.

Significant Matters:

•    Presently defending thousands of asbestos-related personal injury and wrongful death cases filed in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
