Deer in headlights no more!  Be prepared for the inevitable:  “Do you have any questions for us?”

Here is a list of the top ten questions you might want to ask us while interviewing for a summer associate position. You can ask different interviewers the same questions – who knows, you might hear different answers.

  1. I noticed that your lawyers give real work to your summer associates.  What types of work can a summer associate expect to receive?
  2. What qualities are you looking for in a summer associate candidate?
  3. How often and in what way do the summer associates and the lawyers at Miles & Stockbridge interact throughout the summer?
  4. Your firm has a reputation for having a unique culture.  How would you describe the firm's culture and personality?
  5. How many summer associates do you anticipate hiring this summer and what is your selection process from here forward?
  6. How many permanent positions of employment do you anticipate will be available at the end of the summer?
  7. If a summer associate is interested in gaining an opportunity to observe a Miles & Stockbridge lawyer in a deposition, trial, or other work-related setting, what is the process for requesting those opportunities?
  8. How do you select mentors for summer associates and what is the firm’s expectation of the relationship between summer associate and mentor?
  9. Your summer program is one of the most highly ranked programs in the country.  To what do you attribute its success?
  10. What attracted you to and keeps you at Miles & Stockbridge?
