Summer Associate Program
Our nationally-ranked summer associate program is our single most important source of new associate hiring. To that end, we hire summer associates with the expectation that they will join us as associates.
Real Life Opportunities
Miles & Stockbridge offers our summer associates real life opportunities to learn important information about our firm, our colleagues and our vision. Through our summer program, students learn about our firm and the practice of law through doing real client work, participating in focused educational programs, and numerous other interactions with all firm colleagues. During the first week, we provide our summer associates a roadmap for a successful summer at Miles & Stockbridge, including meeting directly with our chairman and other firm leaders to learn about our firm’s strategic focus and vision. That roadmap also includes a thorough orientation and training on computer systems, timekeeping practices, and methods of communicating with assigning lawyers and other colleagues.
Multiple Safety Nets
We provide multiple safety nets to help our summer associates navigate their work and daily interactions. Those safety nets include project coordinators, mentors, writing advisors, and experienced Recruitment Department professionals whose goal is to help our summer associates realize their full potential. Our summer associates are energized by intellectually stimulating work and dynamic, caring colleagues. We also provide an appropriate balance of work, education, and social activities, all designed to introduce our summer associates to as many lawyers as possible.
High Level of Satisfaction
These features have contributed to a high level of summer associate satisfaction, consistently placing Miles & Stockbridge among the top major law firms in The American Lawyer's Summer Associates Surveys since 2001, including the #1 National Ranking in 2005.
